during my time at Taylor Lombardo Architects 2022-2025

This is a one-bedroom house, guest house, and detached garage made custom for a couple who spent a lot of their time on a boat, sailing the world together. This will be their forever home as they grow old, and a lot of consideration went into accessibility, entertaining, and moments connecting outdoor with indoor. A great expanse of glass takes advantage of the amazing view on this lot. They are west-facing though, which presented a drawback for energy efficiency. We had to develop custom wall construction details, much thicker than usual, to ensure our buildings met energy code requirements. This led to very unusual door and window details as well.

I oversaw the permit and construction document phases, and worked closely with the clients and  contractors to make sure each part of this very bespoke home came together seamlessly.
